The OutDoor INDUSTRY Award is one of the leading international design awards for companies in the outdoor industry. The independent, expert verdict of the panel of judges acts as valuable independent source of information for both consumers and retailers in what is a broad and diverse market. In addition, it provides important feedback to companies regrading the market opportunities and innovation value of new products.

  • OutDoor exhibitors pay €140 (early registration), respectively €190 per product entered.
  • Start-up copmanies pay the same as exhibitors: €140 (early registration), respectively €190 per product entered - a confirmation of the business registration has to be approved by Messe Friedrichshafen before product entry (see START-UP for details)
  • Non-exhibitors pay €430 (early submission), respectively €580 per product entered.

There are no extra costs for participants whose product wins an OutDoor INDUSTRY AWARD.

If you are officially registered as a co-exhibitor and the corresponding co-exhibitor fee has been paid, you are entitled to the same reduced entry fee as exhibitors.

OutDoor exhibitors and co-exhibitors will receive an invoice by email for the entry fee after the closing date for registration.
If you prefer to pay by credit card, please use the corresponding direct debit authorization provided online when submitting the product.

Otherwise, payment is due by bank transfer upon receipt of the invoice.

Non-exhibitors & start-ups need to pay the fee during the product submission with their credit card or via PayPal and an invoice is provided online right after the payment has been processed.

To register your product online all you need are two photos, a product description and, ideally, a video link to explain your product more in depth and make it more "approachable" for the judges during the digital pre-selection already.

If your product is selected for the final, it must arrive at our logistics partner DB Schenker by May 25th, 2018, the latest (see LOGISTICS).

The panel of judges require fully-functional original products or prototypes, although prototypes must be clearly labelled as such and any potential limitations need to be indicated.
However, larger exhibits may be presented as scale models or with high-quality large-format photos with detail shots. Digital content, concepts or apps must be accessible to the expert panel (tablets or smartphones may be submitted for this purpose). Drawings or renderings of products which are not finished, are not sufficient.

Prototypes must be clearly labelled as such. If your product is chosen as a finalist, you must display clearly on the product and ideally on the packaging that it is a prototype.
If it is only possible to use a product in a restricted manner, this must be clearly indicated. If a product is insufficiently labelled and this results in damage to persons or property, Messe Friedrichshafen reserves the right to claim damages from the entrant.

It is possible to withdraw your product free of charge up to the closing date for registration on May 7th, 2018. Please inform us in writing, by sending an email including the respective entry-ID.

If you cancel between May 8th and 14th, you will lose 50 % of the entry fee. Later cancellations mean forfeiting the full entry fee.

It will be possible to assemble your product on Monday, May 28th, 2018, from 08:00 to 12:00. You will be able to deliver your product in person and assemble it in the judging hall. Dismantling your product will be possible on Friday, June 1st, 2018, between 08:00 and 12:00.

If you want to assemble your product yourself, please inform us accordingly.

We are sorry, but this is not possible. Digital pre-selection starts immediately after the closing date for registration. Products which are not registered in time cannot be evaluated and therefore cannot be chosen as finalists.

Sorry, this will not be the case. Please see the answer to the previous question . We are leaving registration open as long as possible and offer equal conditions for all entrants. As a result, the deadlines are final. It will not be possible to extend the deadline. 

Unfortunately, an individual explanation in case of a dismissal in the pre-selection round respectively of not receiving an award is not possible.

When selecting the panel, we ensure that the judges come from different fields. We look for individuals with different areas of outdoor expertise and interests. We work hard to make sure that the panel reflects a variety of viewpoints and areas of expertise. We also ensure that there is a balanced proportion of men and women and a good mix of national and international judges.
